Paz (AB Comm '92) has music in her blood. As the daughter of a veteran stage, screen and TV performer, Subas Herrero, she was raised in the entertainment world and has been surrounded by music and the performing arts her entire life. Her venture into singing in bands started when she moved to the U.S. in the 1990s. She credits her musical career to singer/songwriter Noel Gamboa, who gave her the chance to showcase her talents in several productions of “Manila Nights.” Paz has had the opportunity to sing backup for numerous top-named Filipino artists across the U.S. and Canada and has performed at several venues in the tri-state area, including the acclaimed Weil Auditorium at Carnegie Hall and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. She has performed with several bands over the years, and has very happily found her niche as a lead singer for Key of C.

In 2004, a fortuitous event occurred in NYC: alumni of universities and colleges in Manila, now living in and around NYC, were challenged to form alumni-based bands and compete in a “battle-of-the-bands” benefit show to raise money for Filipino charities. From this inauspicious beginning IBK – iskulbluekul – was born. Originally a ten-member pop band, there have been multiple variants of IBK through the years —but one thing has always remained constant: its musicians have always been mostly, if not all, Ateneans. A lot of the original members have moved on to different bands but IBK has always been a home for Atenean musicians.
For this live stream event, it will feature Warren Daya (AGS 77, AHS 81) on guitar, Anton Marquinez (AGS 79, AHS 83) on saxophone and bass, and Mike Ruivivar (AGS 79, AHS 83, College 87) on drums.
